Osteopathy is not just for treating back pain...

Consultation & Treatment

What to expect on your first visit.
We allow at least an hour for your first consultation.
Initially a comprehensive case history is taken that not only covers the presenting condition, but also your previous medical history in some considerable detail.
A thorough physical examination is then conducted. For this you may be asked to undress down to your underwear in private, so, it's best to wear something comfortable and suitably modest.
A gown can be provided if required. This then allows your osteopath a clear

view of your posture, to examine mobility, and to conduct a range of tests, all of which help to clarify the condition and its underlying causes. Please bring along a relative or friend as a chaperone, if this would help you feel more comfortable. For a patient under the age of 16 (male or female), we will insist that a parent or other responsible adult be present during all consultations.
Once a diagnosis is arrived at this will be clearly explained, together with details of the treatment plan, the techniques that may be employed, and an initial estimate of how many treatments may be required. Or, it may be necessary to arrange further examinations, such as X-rays, to be taken.
Normally, time is allowed towards the end of your first visit for some treatment and advice.
